Mexico Wedding Photography

An email appears in my inbox was I available to shoot a wedding evening reception only, on this date? Sadly, no due to a prior wedding sadly because this was a bridesmaid from an earlier wedding. I sent the email, thought that would be it. 30 minutes late phone rings, “Hi its Sophie (bridesmaid from email) I see on your website it says you will travel? Will you go to Mexico?” now let me think err hell yeah, that will be fine. So that’s how my first Mexico Wedding Photography experience got started.
Much planning and research took place on venue, time of year for weather conditions and competitor’s images to get a good feel for coming adventure.
11hour flight and an hour transfer and we are at the hotel and met by the bride and groom. I say we because there was no way on earth I was getting to Mexico for a week without my wife, who doubles as a very able assistant as well. Those who have met me know I sport a handle bar moustache, the humidity though made me look like Pancho Villa for the duration of my stay.

On the Day itself

The wedding day itself ran much like a traditional British affair and with all the participants in the same resort (Grand Serenis, Riveria Maya) it was easy to move between Bride prep and groom prep.
All the groomsmen went the shorts option which in the high 20sdegree C seemed like a better idea than my full linen trousers and linen shirt but despite all my running around I didn’t feel like I was going to melt. Also socks in shoes, who’d of thought it? No blisters and sore feet for me! Beach weddings are something I want more of, even though the ocean breeze was quite intense see the veil shot in the images.
So Mexico Wedding photography, was it worth it, oh yes for sure it is a great Country with incredible history and rich culture. I plan to return this time to explore even more with the family.
